Rectus Abdominis Muscle Tear

19 yr male volley ball player presented with 1 month history of left lower abdominal pain.

Ultrasound Findings:

  • The rounded hypoechoic intramuscular lesion is seen within the left rectus abdominis muscle adjacent to pubic attachment site.
  • The lesion shows cystic areas with multiple septae.
  • The lesion is contained within the rectus sheath.
  • No increased peripheral vascularity.
  • Features suggestive of Subacute Tear of Left Rectus Abdominis Muscle adjacent to pubic attachment site with haematoma.
